What is a SirenS session?
This is a portrait experience for women, however you want to photographed, be it glam, whimsical, romantic or strong. It’s designed around how you would like to see yourself and includes the option for a professional Make Up Artist & Hair Stylist to give you that extra boost of confidence knowing you look your best.
Bring a friend for some moral support! It’s encouraging to have someone familiar to cheer you on from the comfort of our studio sofa and to join you again to see the results and help you make decisions at your Choosing Session. At all visits to the studio, there will be refreshments for you both to enjoy so you can just relax and feel looked after!
Many women initially feel pretty anxious. Don’t worry, we’ll work with you to find the best angles and flattering poses so that you feel comfortable with posing, confident about how you look and that you really enjoy the experience!
How will you help me feel less self-conscious?
The truth is, we never feel slim enough, look less tired than we feel, or have enough time to get our hair and make-up just right… but if not now, then when? Will we then just start telling ourselves we’re too old?
With a professional photographer, you’re in the hands of someone who knows about lighting and posing to ensure a more flattering photograph than you may be used to seeing. When you’re a busy, always-on-the-go mum, I bet you’ve simply just forgotten how good you can look and feel about yourself.
What I can do for you is find the most flattering light, retouch any temporary blemishes or shadows, create the best angles to play-up the things you do like about yourself.
Airbrushing/Photoshopping/Editing is such a controversial issue in today’s media-driven society, particularly when it comes to personal body image. I’ll discuss this with you but my opinion is generally everything in moderation! By getting as much right in-camera with good lighting and angles, we can reduce how much ‘Photoshopping’ I do, but ultimately I want you to feel comfortable when looking at the photos, secure in the knowledge that it’s mostly as shot but with a little helping hand to eliminate any temporary or circumstantial issues such as blemishes or shadows. I want you to recognise yourself and be pleased about how flattering a photo is whilst not being able to pin-point exactly what’s changed!
I make an artistic judgement on each photo and aim for a cohesive collection. Each portrait is creatively edited to my signature style to ensure that editorial finish.
In ten years time, you’ll look back and think, “Wow, I was actually pretty hot!” You are far more likely to regret NOT having had those photos taken. It’s about so much more than how you look, truly.
Now you can have your very own set of beautiful images like the ones you see on Pinterest and in magazines! Instead of admiring them, you’ll be IN them! This is your chance to shine and feel great!
WHY HAVE personal PORTRAIT photos?
Many women are looking for a fresh, contemporary take on a makeover photoshoot, or even boudoir.
These are images especially for you (or a lucky partner!), a chance to take some time out for yourself, whether just to freshen up your look, have some gorgeous social-media worthy photos to share, or to enjoy a bit of a pampering. The style you can expect is light, airy, whimsical, gentle and romantic. Think perfume adverts rather than top-shelf magazines!
It’s not vain or self-indulgent. It’s a couple of hours to get dressed up, be pampered and just celebrate just being you. Perhaps you’ve got something to celebrate or want to remember – there’s no reason why you shouldn’t want to have some lovely portraits!
What should I wear?
It’s useful to bring around 5 or 6 outfits which you might like to wear – we won’t always get through them all but this gives us some options to work with. Most women like to mix up their gallery with a few different looks, such as casual and glamorous. Don’t forget items such as a brush which may come in handy!
The studio has a small collection of multi-way twist-wrap dresses which suit most body types and which you are welcome to try.
How long does a session last?
We’ll be capturing a variety of photographs to choose from in your gallery afterwards and we’ll invite you back to the studio for the big reveal around 10 days after your session when you can make your choices and purchase your images if you love them. This usually lasts about an hour.
What if I don’t like the images?
If you don’t love your images, there is no requirement to purchase them or pay anything further than the session fee you’ve paid upon booking.
Returning to view the images in-person is the best way to explore ways to enjoy your images. You’ll be able to see and touch various products and better understand sizing and finishing, so you’ll feel totally confident about exactly what you’re buying.
There are no pushy sales and no further purchase beyond your original session fee is necessary if you don’t wish to keep any of the images from your session, though this is unlikely as families typically wish to purchase a package to make savings which include all the digital images with something extra to make the most of their photos, such as wall art. Very few people have the luxury of unlimited spending and I fully respect that you should remain in control of how much you spend.
Essentially, you’ve made the effort to book and attend a session and you want images to love and enjoy. Life can get so busy that we often put off decision-making due to lack of time, so the Choosing Appointment is the best way to help you set aside an hour to actively make and pay for your choices. You can then get back to life knowing it’s all taken care of. It also means that you have all my attention and can receive immediate advice and answers to any questions you may have. Though many clients initially feel nervous of this process, they all tell me they feel so glad to have had this service!
Why do I need to come back to view the images?
With an online gallery at home, you’ll likely flick through in that 5 minutes of snatched time in your busy day. You’ll be looking on a small screen, maybe your phone. You’ll then have to choose the images and you’ll put that off because you’ll need to make time to do that. You’ll do it tomorrow, or the next day, maybe. That’s before any potential issues with your internet signal, showing and agreeing with your partner, etc. Then deciding whether and what to print and how big and where to put it. It goes on and on. It’s not a pleasant experience and doesn’t fit with the fact that you’ve finally committed to investing in a photoshoot, only for it now to lie forgotten on your phone, yet another job on the ‘to do’ list.
Instead, I invite you to choose an hour to return to the studio, where I’ll lay on some refreshments and you can relax knowing the technology is taken care of and you’re getting the best possible experience of viewing your images. I’m there, immediately on hand to answer questions and help you choose images you love.
You’ll not be under any pressure whatsoever to buy anything you do not want, love or can’t afford. I can show you how other people just like you and with similar preferences are enjoying their images, whether on the wall, in print, or in digital form and can take away all that hassle of having to figure out the technicalities of printing, creating products or resizing.
We’re used to seeing photos on social media, quickly buried in a flash in a newsfeed. Let’s do something which will help you to continue to make the best use of your images, whether for your family or your business.
After you’ve seen the images and know whether/which/how many of the photos you’d like to buy at your Viewing & Choosing Session, your original session fee includes £99 credit towards your chosen package.
Please feel reassured that there is no pressure to purchase the images if you do not wish to do so. We both only want you to have what you truly love, want and can afford. Payment for your choices will be taken at the Choosing Session so we can process your order. If you require an additional Choosing Session, there is a small charge of £30 to cover the time and admin.
