My friend and I had our babies about 6 weeks apart and we’ve been friends for several years as members of an amateur dramatics group in Kent. We both love a good musical! It was time for some official mini session photos so she booked one of my Taster Sessions which meant that they visited me in my studio in Sittingbourne for a 20 minute session. Her son brought his dinosaurs and could name a whole bunch so we spent much of our time having fun doing impressions of a T-Rex and deciding on how best to pose with a Triceratops!

I love sessions like this because it’s a chance to capture just a small slice of a child’s personality and give parents a few key portraits that really define their child at this time in their life.

1. Why did you book a photoshoot?

We’re both pretty bad at taking photos and knew this would be a great opportunity to have some fabulous shots.

2. What made you choose Kate Hennessy Photography?

She would have killed me if I’d chosen anyone else. 😉 I love Kate’s style and her work, friendship aside she was the obvious choice.

3. How did you feel about the session?

We all really enjoyed it, it was fun and relaxing.

4. How do you think you child(ren) felt about the session?

He was a small bit nervous at first but settled into it really quickly and by then end he absolutely loved it.

5. How will you use and enjoy the images now?

Looking around our house all the photos we have up are quite old so some are definitely going on the walls. We’ll be framing some and giving them to grandparents and other family.

6. Are there any stories about your experiences of parenthood you’d like to share? If so, what would you like to tell us?

I don’t think being a parent has come naturally to me at all and just as I think I’m getting the hang of it, Teddy grows a bit and everything changes. I do love it, though. It’s so much more fulfilling than any job I’ve ever had.

7. What’s you favourite thing about being a parent?

Unconditional love, being able to buy Percy Pigs without judgement and Hey Duggee!

8. What would you say to anyone who is considering booking a session?

Do it! You won’t regret it and you’ll have all grandparent gifts sorted for the rest of the year.
